Queensland Engagement and Wellbeing (QEW) Survey – Weeks 2–4, Term 2

Over the next three weeks, all students from Years 7 to 12 at The Gap SHS will have the opportunity to participate in the Queensland Engagement and Wellbeing (QEW) Survey during class time. The survey takes around 30 minutes and is a valuable way for students to share their experiences and perspectives on life at school.
Why is this survey important?
Wellbeing and engagement are key to students’ success and happiness at school. The QEW Survey asks students about topics such as resilience, school climate, relationships, sense of belonging, motivation, academic self-concept, social capabilities, future outlook, general life satisfaction, and health. By gathering this information, the Department of Education and our school can better understand what’s working well and where extra support may be needed, helping us to tailor programs and initiatives to meet the needs of our students.
Participation in the survey is voluntary and responses are confidential. Results are de-identified and only reported at a year level, ensuring individual privacy. This process allows us to make informed decisions that foster a supportive, inclusive, and positive school environment.
If you would like more information or do not wish for your child to participate, please contact the Deputy Principal at DeputyPrincipal@thegapshs.eq.edu.au. You can also learn more about the QEW Survey on the Education website.
Thank you for supporting this important initiative as we continue to prioritise student wellbeing at The Gap SHS.
