Celebrating Success: Matilda Anderson's remarkable achievement

We are thrilled to announce that Matilda Anderson, a year 12 student, recently won a fully-funded George Alexander Foundation (GAF) Fellowship.

This prestigious award also secured her a coveted place on the Earthwatch Student Challenge Team for the "Ecosystems of the Murray River and Mallee" expedition, which took place at Calperum Station, South Australia, from 7 to 12 April.

The George Alexander Foundation Fellowship provided comprehensive support for Matilda's participation in the expedition. It covered all essential expenses, including travel to and from the research site, food, accommodation and insurance. This incredible opportunity allowed Matilda to engage deeply with environmental research and conservation efforts, gaining invaluable experience and insights.

Matilda's achievement is a testament to her dedication and passion for environmental science. Her participation in the expedition not only enriched her understanding of ecosystems but also contributed to important research efforts in the region.

Congratulations, Matilda, on this well-deserved recognition and for representing our school with such distinction

Congratulations to Lucy

Lucy S, a year 10 IGNITE student, has been selected to participate in the 2025 YMCA South Australia Youth Parliament. This is a remarkable achievement, as the selection process was highly competitive.

As a Youth Parliamentarian, Lucy will have the opportunity to learn about parliamentary processes, how to write a Bill, and how to debate in Parliament. She will develop her public speaking and teamwork skills while joining other young South Australians who are eager to learn about government and democracy and are committed to creating positive change in their communities.

This is an important role, as Lucy will be representing young people across South Australia. We are incredibly proud of her accomplishment and look forward to seeing the positive impact she will make.

Celebrating success at the SACE Merit Ceremony

On Tuesday 8 April, the SACE Merit Ceremony was held at Government House and two of our students, Sarah H and Aston J, were honoured at the event. Both students achieved merits for Activating Identities and Futures in 2024 as Year 11 students.

We are incredibly proud of their hard work and dedication, which have led to this remarkable achievement. Congratulations to Sarah and Aston for their exceptional accomplishments.

Student involvement in Dementia Australia walk

We are excited to share the incredible achievement of one of our Year 12 students and school captain, Hannah S.

On Sunday 6 April, Hannah participated in Dementia Australia’s Walk and Jog, completing a 10km run in an impressive time of 50.31, nearly achieving a personal best!

Hannah's efforts went beyond the race, as she raised over $3,700 for Dementia Australia. Her outstanding fundraising secured her 3rd place in Adelaide’s Individual fundraising and 15th in Australia.

Hannah's dedication and effort have truly made a difference, and we are incredibly proud of her accomplishments.

Year 10 Food Tech: Creative Cupcake task

Our Year 10 Food Tech class recently completed their Creative Cupcake Task, showcasing their creativity with a delightful range of themes, including Beach/Under the Sea, Rapunzel, Moana, The Very Hungry Caterpillar, and Easter.

At Aberfoyle Park High School, our Food Technology program focuses on equipping students with essential culinary skills and a deep understanding of nutrition, food safety, and creative presentation.

Students engage in hands-on learning experiences that encourage innovation and teamwork, preparing them for future opportunities in the food industry or simply enhancing their personal culinary skills.
