Interschool Athletics Event

Approximately 40 students from years 7-12 attended the event, showcasing their talents in various athletics disciplines. Our students behaved exceptionally well, demonstrating encouragement and connection throughout the day.

Aberfoyle Park High School students were brilliant in their enthusiasm and participation, with some even competing in age groups above their own year level. Notably, Macy K and Adele O'B, both year 7 students, participated in open age category events to fill spaces. We are incredibly grateful for their dedication.

Despite not practicing, our students performed admirably, with most of our relay teams securing second place.

Overall results for our school were impressive:

  • Boys: 5th
  • Girls: 4th
  • Combined: 5th

Considering the number of younger students who stepped up to fill spots in events, these results are brilliant. We are already planning our team with the students for next year.

Cross-Country Mountain bike competition

On Thursday 8 May, we had students competing at the Cross-Country Mountain bike competition. Teams needed to complete as many laps as they can within two hours. Most of our teams consisted of pairs with one group of three, therefore most riders were completing around four to five laps each.

The year 7 boys worked through the challenging track together, showing a great deal of teamwork by Campbell S and Ojas J. They and should be very proud of their efforts on the day.

The year 7 girls, Anika S and Ruby-Lea P trailed the silver medalists by 1 minute and 32 seconds, showing grit and making 3rd on the podium. The team of three year 8 boys consisted of Liam S, Josiah Z and Angus W. There efforts paid off and were very successful placing a strong 13th out of a total of 66 school teams.

These boys cheered on the year 7 students and each other showing strong riding techniques with positive team morale. After lunch, the trail was extended longer and the race time lengthened to 2.5 hours, with the next three senior teams showing their experience, skills and fitness levels. Michael L and Rhys J showed grit getting up the massive hill as down hilling is their jam, they finished in the middle of the 57 school teams that entered.

Sonny S and Shannon H looked like professionals with clean changeovers, stamina and the fastest times of 14–16-minute laps, finishing at 11th position in the competition.

Finally, the seasoned year 12 boys with Talin C and Harley K finished 17th out of 31 school teams in their category.

A great effort made by all of our students at the event.

10 Outdoor Education mountain biking

On 2 April and 3 April, our year 10 outdoor education classes travelled to O’Halloran Hill and Craigburn Farm for our mountain biking unit.

Leading up to the excursion we have been learning about mountain biking skills, environmental conditions and risk management and applying this knowledge to adventure activities.

Everyone applied themselves well to developing their skills in the afternoon mountain biking session at Craigburn Farm and had a great time in the environment.
