Principal's News

Dear Parents & Parishioners,
With Mothers’ Day occurring on Sunday, we are provided with an opportunity to reflect on our mothers and all that they mean to us. Those of us who have lost our mothers, or who have mothers living far away, are sustained by the strength and memories of our mother’s love. For those of us who have the opportunity to see our mothers this weekend, it's a time to let them know how much they are cherished.
A Mother is she who can take the place of all others, but whose place no-one else can take.
"A Mother's Love"
A Mother’s love is something
that no one can explain,
It is made of deep devotion
and of sacrifice and pain,
It is endless and unselfish
and enduring come what may,
For nothing can destroy it
or take that love away,
It is patient and forgiving
when all others are forsaking,
And it never fails or falters

Mothers' Day Stall
Thank you to Laura Wong and Siobhan Crawshay for coordinating tomorrow's Mothers' Day Stall. This event is always a highlight on the students' calendar. This year the Mothers' Day Stall will be held in the LRC (Library).
3/4 Camp
How lucky we were to have two warm and sunny days of weather while at Phillip Island earlier this week. The students participated in a range of supervised activites including The Pinnacle (a giant climbing wall), flying fox, pedal racers and the giant swing. Our night walk took us to the Cowes foreshore, which was followed by a session of toasting marshmallows around the campfire. When we departed the Camp on Tuesday afternoon, we took the time to stop for lunch and a walk around The Nobbies.
Thank you to the staff who attended and took great care of the students. A special 'shout out' to the students, themselves, who were a pleasure to take away.
Prep Enrolments for 2026
Enrolments for next year are soon closing. If you have a child who will be commencing school next year, please lodge an enrolment form to the office by next Friday 16 May. We need this information in order to ascertain student numbers for 2026. Enrolment figures are used to determine class numbers and structures. Our enrolment figures impact directly on the funding OHR receives.
Family enrolment meetings will be held in the weeks following 16 May.
Working Bee
Once again we had a great number of parents and children turn up for Sunday's Working Bee. We commenced tasks at 8.30am and were concluded just after 10.00am where everyone lingered for the sausage sizzle and some refreshements.
Tasks completed during the morning included:
- Moving 5 cubic metres of mulch (most ended up on the play space near the cubby houses and outdoor kitchen)
- Weeding gardens surrounding the hall entrance
- Pruning bushes in staff carpark
- Blowing leaves along York St and Mont Albert Rd
- Weeding and mulching along Mont Albert Rd
- Tidying up the sandpit
- Blowing the school grounds and church pathways
Grandparents & Special Friends' Day
The school, with the assistance of some very dedicated parents, is planning this year's ‘Grandparents & Special Persons Day’. This special event will be celebrated on Friday 23 May. On this day we would love for either the grandparents of the children, or other special persons in their lives, to come to the school for the morning. The day will commence with a very special whole school mass in the church, celebrating the place of these important people in the lives of the children. The visitors will then be invited to partake in various activities within the classrooms. Following the classroom activities, our special guests are warmly invited to stay on for a delicious morning tea in the Hall.
Please mark this date in your calendar and commence sending out those important invitations!
Winter Uniform
Commencing Monday, 19 May, all children are required to be dressed in full winter uniform. You may note that the option of wearing summer uniform has been extended by a further week due to the foecast unseasonably warm weather.
Wishing all our mums a very special Mothers' Day this Sunday,
Frank Dame
