Vocational Major Camp

Vocational Major – Melbourne Camp 2025
Last week the Year 11 & 12 VM class recently traded the classroom for thrills on their highly anticipated camp. The year 12 students had organised the trip as a part of Personal Development, camp was packed with activities that catered to a range of interests. The adventure kicked off with navigating via public transport, how to find ones’ way to our high-speed go-karting session, which may have encountered a slight plot-twist, however onwards we travelled with students & staff putting the pedal to the metal and racing for glory, with plenty of jesting along the way.
Dinners were organised, having booked a good burger place on the first night & a ramen restaurant on the second showing a willingness to try out different foods. We had a movie night, encountering a sleepy, yet very soggy Melbourne CBD after a late viewing, as well as the evening ‘Hangman’s Tour’ at the Old Melbourne Gaol on our second night, yet again heading home in the rain. Sea Life – Melbourne Aquarium, Strike Bowling & Laser Tag, South Melbourne Market, DFO South Wharf, and Melbourne Central rounded out the rest of our time. The importance of checking where the trams are headed before you jump on was a lesson learned, and those who were next up as leaders were careful to not make the same mistake. The students had an extra challenge of a scavenger hunt type of exercise over the course of the three days we were away, and those who were dedicated to completing that challenge, racking up some decent kilometres in steps, will be collecting their prize next week.
All in all we had a great three days away, confidence growth in navigating the city, recognising the importance of preparation, planning and communication, strengthening relationships among students as well as staff as well as having a bit of fun along the way. Thankyou to staff who came along and helped and the students for your participation! I’m sure we all slept well once we got home.
