Hello from 4R

ANZAC
In Year 4, learning about ANZAC Day was a meaningful experience, especially through stories like ANZAC Biscuits. This book helped bring the history and emotions of the day to life, showing the connection between families at home and soldiers far away during World War I. Through the story, students learned how small things—like baking biscuits—became a way to show love and support. It also taught them about the bravery and sacrifice of the ANZAC soldiers and why it’s important to remember them each year on April 25th. Students drew a mural representing the differences between home life and life in the battlefield.
Coming up in Term 2
We have an exciting term ahead filled with engaging learning experiences. In Reading, we’ll be exploring the book Ivan, which will help us build deeper comprehension and empathy through storytelling. In Writing, our focus will be on persuasive texts, where students will learn how to form and express strong opinions with supporting arguments. As part of our Inquiry unit on endangered animals and the significance of environments, we’ll be visiting Moonlit Sanctuary to see real-world examples of conservation in action. It’s shaping up to be a term full of discovery, creativity, and meaningful connections to the world around us.
