Recess, Lunch and Canteen

Outside Play

Recess: 10:50am - 11:20am (snacks are eaten inside 15 minutes before outside time)

Lunch: 1:20pm - 2:00pm (lunch is eaten from 1.10pm before outside time)

*Please note that recess and lunch times will vary for Preps for the first few weeks of school until they've settled into school life.

Canteen

The school has a canteen operating each weekday. Orders are distributed at lunchtime by the classroom ‘Lunch Monitors’ (Monitors are chosen by the class teacher and all children are given the chance to be one!)  Our canteen is operated by H & H Catering and Vivian is our Canteen Manager.

Lunch orders are made online by registering and creating an account via QuickCliq.

 SIMPLY REGISTER AT: www.quickcliq.com.

During recess and lunchtimes the canteen is open for over the counter sales for children to buy snack foods and drinks.  Parents are requested to minimise the amount of cash children bring to school.  The Prep teachers introduce the canteen to the Prep students late Term 1. We recommend that lunch orders and canteen money is not used until Term 2.

Alternatively, lunch orders can be brought to school. Correct ordering is essential:  Please write clearly, in pen on the lower half of a CLEAN paper bag, as in the following example:

 student name

Prep N

 Teacher:  Mr Wright

                       Order example

    1 Salad sandwich 3.00

     1 Apple    1.00

     Total    4.00

     Amount enclosed 4.00

A canteen list of available foods is available on Compass under School Resources.  Menus may change seasonally.

The canteen aims to provide healthy choices at a reasonable cost.  The canteen operation is overseen by the School Council Health and Nutrition Sub-committee who meet at least once a term to oversee the menus.

Attached is the 2024/5 Summer menu.  This may change for next year.

CSEF (Camps, Sport & Excursions Fund)

The Camps, Sports and Excursions Fund (CSEF) provides payments for eligible students to attend activities like:

  • school camps or trips
  • swimming and school-organised sports programs
  • outdoor education programs
  • excursions and incursions.

Please note that if you applied for CSEF for an older sibling last year you do not need to reapply this year.

Eligibility

For concession card holders, CSEF eligibility will be subject to the parent/legal guardian’s concession card being successfully validated with Centrelink on 28 January 2025 and/or 15 April 2025

To be eligible for the fund, a mature minor of sixteen years of age or over, a parent or legal guardian of a student attending a registered Government or non-government Victorian primary or secondary school must:

• on the first day of Term one, or;

• on the first day of Term two.

a) Be an eligible beneficiary within the meaning of the State Concessions Act 2004, that is, be a holder of Veterans Affairs Gold Card or be an eligible Centrelink Health Care Card (HCC) or Pensioner Concession Card (PCC) holder, OR

b) Be a temporary foster parent, and;

c) Submit an application to the school by the due date

  • be an eligible beneficiary of one of these cards:
  • Veterans Affairs Gold Card
  • Centrelink Health Care Card
  • Pensioner Concession Card
  • OR they must be a temporary foster parent
  • OR the student is 16 years or older and holds a valid concession card (such as a Youth Allowance Health Care Card)
  • AND the parent or legal guardian must submit an application by the due date.

Parents who receive a carer allowance on behalf of a child, or any other benefit or allowance not income tested by Centrelink, are not eligible for the CSEF unless they also comply with the above.

Eligibility will be determined when the parent’s concession card successfully validates with Centrelink on either the first day of term one or term two.

If the eligible card is in the name of the student, the fund is only granted to that student, not their siblings.
