Principals Report
Firstly, I would like to congratulate our Year 12 students and their families for navigating these past few weeks, HSC Exam period. Thanks to our Presiding Officer, Julie Stride and her hardworking team for making this happen. To our ‘senior student’ staff members, and Year 12 year advisors, thank you for your great effort and support.
Time for our Year 12 students to kick back, relax and celebrate your efforts. Some of you are already onto the next chapter of your lives, with at least the next few years locked in. Some of you may have decided to take a ‘gap year’ to think about what the future looks like, and others will be waiting to hear from potential employers or University/TAFE pathways. Whatever direction you take, grab it with two hands and ‘go for it’. It really is up to you now. You get to choose your future.
Following the completion of our 7-11 exams we will be issuing our 2024 school reports, one for every student. A lot of care happens around the completion of these reports, passing through many hands before they arrive with our parents/carers. Thank you to our staff for their efforts to ensure that this process embraces excellence and equity.
I have not been at Glen Innes High School for very long. What I have learned during my time at the school, as the relieving school principal, is that there are a lot of people around me that care about kids. This school belongs to the students and their families. Please take the time to read and reflect on our invitation for you to have a say in what you would like to see for the school as we move towards 2025.
Our Community Engagement/Consultation afternoon/evening on 20th November 2024 is the beginning of the collaborative process.
It is important that you register your interest by contacting the school (RSVP) so that we can ensure that we set up enough workshop spaces and can let the Rotary Club of Glen Innes know how much food is needed.
I have been in Inverell for the past two days attending the Secondary Principals’ Council Term 4 Conference. There is a lot happening in the NSW Department of Education space and it is important for all schools that Principals maintain currency around emerging priorities. I will be attending the Northern Tablelands Principals’ Professional Learning Day at Glen Innes Primary School on Wednesday 13th November 2024. I do, however, look forward to catching up with our Year 6 into Year 7 students and their families at our welcome BBQ on this evening.
We are in a very busy passage of time, with many activities and events happening before we head off for the school break in December. On Monday 11th November 2024 the entire school will participate in the Glen Innes Remembrance Day event and we thank our community for the opportunity to participate.
Please take the time to spend time with your children and families during the weekend. Thanks for your continued support of the school.
