News from the Drama Department

Drama is in full swing for Term 4 with terrific student engagement and creative ideas.

Just before the school holidays, our Grade 6 students performed their show “Beach Adventures” for Grade 6 students and staff. The show was a big success with many laughs and an excellent performance from our dancers. Congratulations to all our Grade 6 students who showed tremendous teamwork and confidence. The show was filmed and will be made accessible to parents for viewing within the next few weeks.

This term, we will be creating group videos using iPads and a range of editing software. Students will choose their own video topic and presentation style to make a video with a clear purpose (such as an advertisement, a news report, a fictional drama, or an instructional video).

Grade 5 students will also be creating short videos in groups this term (see photos). The theme is “taking responsibility for chores at home”. The video aim is to get their message across clearly, and students can choose whether they will use a dramatized, documentary or interview format. Students will storyboard, write, film and edit their videos. There is no shortage of excellent ideas in Grade 5!

In Grade 4, students are developing short scenes to perform later in the term around the theme of “Christmas and the Holidays”. There are dramas about naughty elves, monster presents, car breakdowns, camping disasters and more. A lot of energy, laughs and imaginative expression are bubbling up in the drama room, so it promises to be a great show!
