Throughout the school holidays we held our annual October Rowing camp with 85 students returning to campus for an intense training block spanning over 4 days. With a focus on technical progression and Endurance Aerobic based workload our rowers applied themselves to high standards throughout the entire course of the camp.
The rowing gods blessed us with windless, sunny conditions which was refreshing after what has been a brisk start to the season throughout August and September.
Our Junior Rowers keep going from strength to strength, with all crews developing cohesion intrinsically and sharpening their skills. We even had our Junior boys all get out in single sculls for the first time which is always an exciting sometimes scary experience! Shoutout to the Juniors as they’ve slotted in perfectly into the squad. Although there is plenty to learn, all the coaches and Seniors are excited to have you apart of the program.
Our Senior rowers have been impressive since the start of the season, and this camp was no different. With some rowers knocking out 50+km days on the water, their application and willingness to work hard is exciting and infectious.
This camp saw us introduce the Inaugural Coxswains 500. All 12 coxswains competed against one another across 500m on the erg in front of a packed crowd in the new weights room. With walkouts, open warmups, and the energy from their peers this made for a really special moment between the squad. In a tight contest between all coxswains the winner was Henry Baker in a time of 1:52.9 closely followed by Jackson Beaudin with a 1:53.2! Great work by all coxswains.
At the end of camp, we announced our Captains of Boats for the 24/25 season. Congratulations to Olivia Searle and Oliver Smith.
On behalf of Kinross Wolaroi Rowing we’d like to thank the dining hall staff for the delicious food and to the cleaners and operation staff of Weymouth and Wolaroi houses for allowing us to stay throughout the holidays.
It certainly was a camp to remember and couldn’t have been done without the help of our legendary coaches and of course the willingness, commitment, and drive of the entire Rowing Squad.
With our first regatta exactly a month away, we are excited and ready to rip into Term 4.
Kinross Mana!

Following a successful trip to the ISA Athletics Carnival, 32 students from our athletics team travelled to Sydney to compete at the Combined Independent Schools (CIS) Carnival. The event provided our athletes with the opportunity to test their skills against some of the best competitors from independent schools across the state.
The team performed well across various events, with several students achieving personal bests. A special mention goes to Mackenzie Miller, who won bronze medals in both the long jump and the 100m multiclass events. Her achievements are a just reward for her commitment and effort throughout the season.
In addition to Mackenzie’s success, many athletes put forth commendable efforts, showing improvement and determination throughout the day. The camaraderie among team members was evident as they supported one another, creating a positive environment at the carnival.
I would like to extend our gratitude to Miss Emma Sweeney, our track coach, for her support in preparing the athletes for this event. A big thank you is also due to our Gap students who assisted have assisted the team at all carnivals during the season, helping ensure that events ran smoothly for our participants.
Looking forward to 2025 we are excited as our athletics program continues to grow and we appreciate the dedication of our athletes and their commitment to representing the school with pride.
