With the weather heating up, we are seeing an increase in students with headaches and other heat related issues. Hats are compulsory on Farm and in Trades but should be worn whenever you are in the sun. Please carry a water bottle with you at all times. Waiting to use the water fountains is not only insufficient during your active days but also takes you out of classes. Parents, stainless steel water bottles make great presents for birthdays and Christmas.
This year we can offer two opportunities for our students to do their Skippers Ticket through Mandurah Boat Training. The first on Saturday 9 November 2024 and the other will be held in early Term 1, 2025. Students ideally should already have their car learners license, as this cuts down on the paperwork. The cost is approximately $300 and will be paid directly to Mandurah Boat Training. Please let me know your intention to participate by Tuesday 5 November 2024. There is study to be done prior to the day. I will be coordinating the event, and I am happy to discuss with parents at any time.
Can I please remind all parents, that students are highly encouraged to be back in boarding by Sunday evening, self-drivers by 7:30pm. Both residential supervisors and teachers see students better equipped to start the school week when they have used Sunday night to prepare. We are teaching our students to be work ready where times and preparedness are seen as important skill sets.
All leave must be in by Wednesday night please. This allows us to plan for weekend activities, catering and train pick-ups and drop offs.
A big thank you to our incredible kitchen staff for yet again putting on a most spectacular and gruesome Halloween Dinner. Most students came to dinner dressed up and enjoyed the theatrics of the evening. Awards (as chosen by our Chefs Miss Jess and Mrs Davey) went to the 2 Bogans, Jade Tayler and Carly Ballantyne, the gentle giant Riley Isbister, Murderous Brody Lia, blown up giants Michael Woodford and Daniel Davies, and special mentions Drew Hall, Oskar Luckman and Heather Lovett. Congratulations to all who dressed up it was a sight to behold.
Stay tuned for our next Bonanza Dinner which is our Christmas Dinner on Monday 11 November. Dress ups are to be encouraged.
