Piggery
This past week has brought warmer weather, and the pigs in the grower unit have been enjoying the sprinkler systems. We’ve been busy with cleaning, weighing, preparing feed, and routine maintenance. As Christmas approaches, we’ll be weighing the weaners and porkers for the spit market.
The weaners have received exciting new additions to their pens: transit feeders. These will help reduce food competition among the early weaners, supporting improved growth performance.
The Year 11 students have been very productive, taking every opportunity to learn new skills. Meanwhile, the Year 12s have been finalising their units over the past couple of weeks to ensure they’ve made the most of their time in the piggery. Well done, everyone!
Grains
The new header is out, and harvest has started! The canola in paddock 44 is coming off and yielding nicely.
General
Mr West has been busy carting all the hay (over 600 rolls and 2,000 small squares)! The skid steer/loader ticket was completed just in time for him to employ some helpers for the final few truck loads.
