Sunday Readings: Faith, Restoration, and God's Mercy

In Jeremiah 32:7-9, God tells the prophet Jeremiah to buy a field from his cousin. Even though the city is under siege, this act symbolizes hope for the future. Jeremiah’s purchase shows faith in God's promise that, despite difficult times, things will be restored.

From Hebrews 5:1-6, we learn about the role of a high priest, chosen by God to represent the people and offer sacrifices for their sins. The passage points to Jesus as the ultimate high priest, who not only offers sacrifices but becomes the sacrifice for all. This shows Jesus’ unique role in connecting us to God.

Though Mark 10:46-52, we see the story of Bartimaeus, a blind man who calls out to Jesus for help. Despite the crowd trying to quiet him, Bartimaeus keeps calling, and Jesus hears him. Jesus heals his blindness, showing the power of faith and God’s mercy.

These readings remind us to trust in God's plans, recognize Jesus' role as our mediator, and believe in the healing power of faith.

Let Us Pray

A Prayer for St. Mary's, Rushworth

Loving God,

We thank You for Your endless mercy and love.

Like Bartimaeus, help us to trust that You hear us when we call out in faith.

No matter what struggles we face, remind us that Your mercy has the power to restore and renew us.

Fill our hearts with hope and give us the strength to walk in faith, knowing You are always with us.

Bless everyone at St. Mary’s with peace, courage, and the assurance of Your presence.

Amen.
