Principal's Report

Rohan Cooper

I write to you on this 30th anniversary of the first World Teachers’ Day, first celebrated back when many of our teachers may have been at school themselves (and not even born yet for some of our younger teachers!). As Georgia and I wrote in our Compass post this morning, teaching is both a gift and an incredible responsibility. To our teachers, on this and every day, thank you for everything that you do.

All schools are in the midst of our busiest time of the year. Whether it be workforce planning, budget management, facilities upkeep, student transitions or assessment leading into the reporting period, I can guarantee you that every staff member across each school in our state is working to their capacity to ensure the best outcome for their students and school.

Our students are working hard and will be ready for a short break across the Melbourne Cup holiday weekend, with the Monday prior to the Cup (November 4th ) being a student-free day. On this day, staff will be working onsite in their teaching teams, moderating student assessment, comparing teacher judgement data and preparing commentary for the Semester 2 student reports.

2025 Planning

We continue to develop our planning for the 2025 school year. Please note the following:

  • If you have a child starting Prep, or know of a family intending to enrol across any grade at our school, please ensure you contact our office (link here) to begin the enrolment process as soon as possible.
  • If you have a child/ren intending to attend another school in 2025, please inform our office immediately via email. This information is critical for 2025 workforce planning.
  • On the following page of this newsletter, the student class placement process has been outlined. This follows a very similar process to last year. Please ensure you read this process carefully and reach out directly to Georgia or myself if you have any questions. Please note that this process closes at COB this coming Monday 28th October. No late requests will be considered.

Community contributions to our school are critical for a vibrant and successful school. These contributions can come in a variety of ways, and I would like to acknowledge our community for this today:

  • Thank you to the families who have volunteered to join us for our working bee from 9:00am tomorrow. If you have not signed-up yet, please do so at this link here.
  • Our major fundraiser continues to bring in significant funds for our school improvement project of installing a new senior playground. From the organising committee to the teachers offering to be slimed and to every single student who has raised money for this project, thank you so much!

Thanks for your ongoing support and keep doing your best.
