School Sport Victoria

Team Vic Registration Process

Dear Parents,

Each year, talented Year 6 students have the opportunity to trial for a place in the School Sport Victoria (SSV) ‘Team Vic’ state teams. The sports include Australian Rules Football, Basketball, Football (Soccer) and Netball. It is VERY important to remember that these trials form part of School Sport Victoria’s Gifted and Talented program and are not ‘come and try’ opportunities. Each child is trialing for a state team and as such we must attest to each child’s athleticism, skill level and school behaviour.

If you feel that your child has the skill level that is required, you can view further trial information regarding the nomination process for each sport - by clicking on the respective links under the Team Vic tab. Website - www.ssv.vic.edu.au

Please note that participation in SSV Team Vic state teams is self-funded, so students will be required to contribute to the costs of being a member of a team. As a guide, it may cost approximately between $1,500- $2,500.

Students must fully register online before attending trials and hand into the relevant SSV Team Vic Team Manager the signed form. All forms need to be signed by Parent/Guardian, School Principal and Sports coordinator. Please note the form is received on completing the registration fully.

To be eligible for selection students must be turning 12 years of age in 2024. Students are expected to have ‘excellent’ skills in their chosen sport. Registration for certain sports close as early as the Second of February 2024 so make sure to register before cut off dates..

Basketball

Another week, another title for our talented young basketball players. Both our boys and girls teams qualified for the Greater Western Basketball tournament this week. Our boys and girls shone brightest and went through the whole competition undefeated. They will now play in the Greater Western tournament next week to battle it out for regional champions! Good luck to all.

Athletics

In week 1 this term, we had a large team head down the highway to Ballarat to compete in the Regional Athletics Carnival. The students all gave their best effort and a big congratulations to Jack Hitchings who won gold in the 80m hurdles and will travel to Melbourne in a few weeks time to compete in the state titles.
