The accolades and awards keep coming!
As we reach the halfway point of Term 4, we have many reasons to celebrate with our school receiving many accolades, achievements, and awards in recent competitions, events, and performances. As the principal of Burrendah Primary School I am incredibly proud of our students and staff as we continue to be recognised for our academic, music, technologies, and sporting programs. The first six weeks of Term 4 have been busy but rewarding and I am very happy to share some of these achievements with you in this newsletter.
First Lego League Regional Competition
Firstly, a huge congratulations to our talented students who competed in the First Lego League Regional competition. Their hard work and dedication have paid off, as they brought home trophies for Innovation, Coding, and Overall Best School. We also took out the Best Mentor Trophy– a wonderful acknowledgement of the hard work, dedication and expertise of Mrs Crouch who leads, mentors, and gives an enormous amount of time to supporting our teams. This outstanding performance has earned both teams a spot at the National Competition at Curtin University on 6 December—a testament to their creativity, teamwork, and problem-solving skills. We are immensely proud of their efforts and wish them the best of luck as they prepare for the next round of competition.
Interschool Athletics Carnival
We are thrilled to celebrate Burrendah Primary School’s victory at the interschool athletics carnival, marking the first time in many years we’ve secured the championship. This is an incredible achievement. Special thanks go to our dedicated physical education teachers, Mr Vinci and Mrs Bain, and supportive families who have encouraged our students every step of the way.
Looking Ahead
Looking ahead, we still have many exciting events to enjoy. Open classrooms, Year 7 Transitions, BYOD presentations, Volunteer Morning Teas, and Awards and Graduations Ceremonies are just a few important dates on the calendar. To check out the dates, please refer to our school calendar on https://burrendahps.wa.edu.au/index.php/events
The book fair began at the end of Week 6, and we have already had many sales. Book Fairs are a great way to encourage a love of reading and provide an opportunity for students and families to explore new stories together. The funds raised go towards updating and increasing our library resources.
Our Senior Basketball Team has qualified for the SLAM Series Invitational. This is their final competition for the year and will be another chance for students to showcase their ball skills and build on their experience competing against other schools.
End of Year Events
We are eagerly anticipating our annual music concert, where students will perform and demonstrate their musical talents honed throughout the year through our Music Specialist Program and IMMS Program. This year we have combined the Choir and IMMS performances into one evening, Tuesday 26 November. This is to make it easier for our families in a busy time of year.
Finally, our Edu-Dance concert will bring joy and energy, allowing students to shine on stage and celebrate their progress in dance. Likewise, we have combined the junior and senior concerts.
These activities not only enrich our school culture but also provide students with diverse opportunities to learn, grow, and express themselves. We are grateful for the ongoing commitment of our staff and the enthusiasm of our students, which make such experiences possible.
Thank you for your continued support as we celebrate these milestones and anticipate more successes together. Your involvement plays a crucial role in fostering a vibrant and supportive school community.
