Child Safeguarding

At St Joseph's, we are committed to creating and maintaining a safe environment for children and young people, adhering to the Child Safe Standards and relevant legislation.

There are 11 Child Safe Standards - we will explore each one and how St Joseph's addresses the standards.

Standard 8: Staff and volunteers are equipped with the knowledge, skills and awareness to keep children and young people safe through ongoing education and training

As part of our commitment to Child Safe Standards, our school continues to ensure that all staff and volunteers are well trained and supported to keep children safe and promote their wellbeing.

  • Staff and volunteers are trained to understand and implement our Child Safety and Wellbeing Policy effectively.
  • They receive training to recognise signs of harm, including harm that may be caused by other children or young people.
  • They are supported to respond appropriately to child safety and wellbeing concerns, and to assist colleagues who may be managing disclosures of harm.
  • They also learn how to create culturally safe environments where every child and young person feels respected and included.

Together, these practices strengthen our shared responsibility to ensure every child in our community is safe, valued, and supported.

Ways St Joseph's achieves this standard:

  • Policies
  • Volunteer Registration Process
  • Staff Training
