Grade 1  | Leatherwood

CLEVER CLASS

On Monday 8th September, Grade 1 Leatherwood went to South Arm beach to further their understanding of natural and man-made features within our environment.

Understanding whether an object is natural or man-made is a key concept in Science and in our Geography unit. This term, students have been learning to identify and classify objects in both categories, while promoting creativity and critical thinking. We explored the natural features of South Arm beach, sketching pictures of the ocean and mountain, as well as some man-made boat houses. Students took part in creating the longest tunnel ball run in the sand, which they thoroughly enjoyed. This became very competitive!

We then made our way to the South Arm park for lunch and a play to finish the day. Students showed exceptional behaviour, the sunshine came out, and we all had a fabulous day.
