Literacy and Numeracy

Reviewing / Revising mathematics.
You may have noticed that your child is talking about doing maths topics they completed earlier in the year. This is a wonderful sign. They are revisiting previous learning to strengthen their understanding and make connections between different skills.
In maths, it’s easy to forget concepts if we don’t practise them regularly. Returning to earlier topics helps students store this knowledge in their long-term memory, making it easier to recall when solving new problems. Each time they practise a strategy or solve a familiar type of problem, their confidence grows and tricky concepts become more familiar.
Revisiting learning isn’t just revision. t’s a clever way for the brain to get smarter while having fun with numbers!
Premier's Reading Challenge
Congratulations to the students below who completed this year's Reading Challenge. A great effort from everyone!
Year 6 Literature Circles
Last term our Year 6 students worked in Literature Circles, a small group discussion in which students take on different roles to facilitate and structure their conversation about a novel.
The goal is to encourage student-led discussion, promote deeper reading comprehension, and engage with the text from various perspectives. These students completed Open Mind Portraits. This activity is designed to help students think more deeply about a person's perspective, thoughts, feelings, and motivations. They demonstrated their artistic skills and understanding of the text as they showed what was 'inside the mind' of their chosen character.
