Digital Technologies

As you may have read on Dave's page, Operoo is shutting down its platform outside of The United States.  Whilst this is not ideal, we were going to be moving across to nForma to use all of its capabilities in the future.  This has just been fast tracked.  nForma are working hard to create the best transition for all schools affected.  We will be using Operoo until the end of the 2025 school year and then over the holidays I will transfer our data across to nForma.  You will certainly notice some differences in the nForma platform, and in some instances it will seem a little more basic than what we have had with Operoo.  However, nForma are fantastic at listening to feedback and improving their product.  I am sure it will service our schools needs well and on the upside, you will only require one platform for medical, forms, notices, attendance and reports.

As we approach the 10th December 2025, when social media platforms will be banned for children aged under 16, it is important that you start preparing your child for what that may look like for them.  I know from speaking to the students, particularly from Years 5 & 6, that they have a variety of social media accounts.  The eSafety platform has some great advice and help on how to prepare your child for the change, what to do with existing accounts, what platforms are banned and what are still accessible, and how to talk to your child about the expectations going forward.  Also, as previously mentioned, there are ongoing webinars that you can sit in on or ask questions to help you.
