Prayer

During the month of October we celebrate World Mission Month, guided by the theme “Missionaries of Hope Among All Peoples.”

Together, we have the power to create change and build a more just world for people everywhere. By supporting missionaries in their work, we can create life-changing opportunities for countless children, families, and communities worldwide. This theme highlights hope and unity, emphasising how we can collectively turn our faith into action.

Let us pray…

God of boundless love,

We pray for your empowerment upon all missionaries, those serving far away and those ministering in our midst. Fill them with the Holy Spirit's strength, zeal, and wisdom, that they may courageously witness to the Gospel through humble service.

Grant us, your people, a renewed openness to your work in the world. Stir within us a deep sense of solidarity with the poor, the excluded, and the lonely, so that we may see your presence in all people and places, and respond with selfless love and action.

Help us to be faithful in living out our faith. May our hands and hearts become ambassadors of your peace, showing your saving love and mercy through every action in our families, workplaces, and school community. May the mission of your Church find new, vibrant expressions to bring your life and light to all the world.

Amen.

This World Mission Month, Pope Francis called us to be “missionaries of hope among all peoples”, and Pope Leo XIV echoes this call, inviting us to step out in faith, to walk with those on the margins and share the hope of Christ through acts of love.

Please take a few minutes to view this video from Catholic Mission featuring the people of Zambia. They are calling on our collective efforts to be agents of change in support of programs to address food security, education and skills and maternal health.
