Zoo excursion recount

My Zoo Recount

By Inti Moslih Dianderas

My trip to the Melbourne Zoo was fantastic. I enjoyed it. My legs were very active and happy.

I saw lions, tigers, birds and the butterfly house. It was so warm and toasty in there! This had never, ever happened to me before, but a butterfly landed on my head. It was very lucky! Then we saw sea life, reptile life and other wildlife.

My favourite section was wildlife!!! My day was a great success.

Everything was nice and perfect and I enjoyed everything.

Zoo Recount

On Friday we went to the Melbourne Zoo. When we got on the bus the teachers told us it was a 1 hour ride!

When we got off the bus I was amazed the zoo had changed a little since I last visited. We met Maria and Jess. We did a class and we got to see the lemurs eating too.

I saw the monkeys, red pandas, butterflies, tigers and more. One of the really funny bits was when the giraffe pooped right in front of our eyes. Our class stopped at a bench near the elephants to eat lunch. I did not see any snow leopard, zebras or emus.

On Friday the whole level of 3/4 went to the Melbourne Zoo. When we got to the Zoo some nice zookeepers welcomed us in. It started pouring and they took our class into a classroom and we had a lesson about animal enrichment.

After the lesson, the zookeepers took us to see the first animals - the lemurs. The lemurs' fur was black and white. It looked a little bit like a monkey or a squirrel.

After looking at the lemurs the zookeepers talked about enrichment and that we designed a enrichment toy for any zoo animals.

We went the butterfly house. When I first stepped into the butterfly house the heat was on and it was hot! We went outside and saw elephants. The zookeeper was washing the elephant's back and legs. It was my first time seeing an elephant in real life.

After looking at some animals, we went to eat lunch and lots of birds came up to us and ate our crumbs. When we finish eating we walked to the reptile exhibit and I  saw some cool snakes and lizards. We also went to the sea life exhibit and saw some seals flip around in the water. There were fish in a medium sized tank in the building as well as art work made out of fake seaweed on the top of the ceiling.

Later on outside we met Mrs. Meade’s class where we all looked around and found penguins. Some people thought that they were waiting for food.

We went to find the tigers but I didn't see any of them. But we did see the lions. The lion's roar was scary and loud. We also saw some giraffes. I wondered what colour its tongue was. Finally, we saw some big birds and some small birds. It was really cool, and I had a wonderful day.
