Learning Expo - Sep 13th

Don't forget to come along to our Learning Expo on Wednesday September 13th from 2:30-4pm. Our communities will be sharing their learning and celebrating their term 3 achievements.

Please note that the 3/4 students will be sharing their Inquiry learning on Friday September 15th at Woolleys Beach. Parents are still welcome to come on Wednesday and explore some of their other learning.

Learning over the holidays

Students will often learn at different rates. This difference in learning can be a result of a number of factors, one of which can be the impact of what we call the “forgetting curve”.

This is something students or even adults encounter when they have learnt a new skill and feel as though they “know it” however if we don’t use the skill for a while we can lose the information and sometimes even need to relearn it.

The key to students not losing their learning is ongoing repeated practise at the time of learning and then later interval practise every few weeks. This supports students to make stronger connections in their brains that allow them to find and apply the skill automatically at a later date.

This loss of learning can often occur over holidays or long breaks from school. To ensure your children continue to practise and embed their learning we have a number of activities on our Home Learning Portal for them to access over the break. You can also ask your teacher for hard copy activities to practise at home.

If you have any questions about your child’s home learning please contact your child’s teacher. For more home learning ideas, please click on the link below to visit your child’s Home Learning Page.
