From the Principal's Desk

Dear Parents & Families,

This year has been nothing short of remarkable, a testament to the unwavering dedication and hard work of every student, teacher and all staff who support the learning of our students and school.

At the heart of our school's ethos lies a commitment to excellence, where every child is known, valued, and cared for. At the school's Excellence and Year 6 Graduation assembly, I was thrilled to share the outstanding achievements of our students that reflect the embodiment of this commitment.

The school’s academic results are on an “upward trend”. This reaffirms we are on the right path with teaching and learning from Kindergarten to Year 6. Specifically, the implementation of Morning Routine, Direct Instruction, Talk for Writing, Daily Review complemented by weekly Italian and Music lessons is proving we’ve got the correct teaching and learning formula for all our students to succeed.

But academic excellence is not the sole measure of our school's success. Our commitment to catering for the “whole child”; fostering a sense of community and cultivating a positive school culture is evident through all the extra curricular activities teachers lead and action for all our students.

As we look back on this year, let us not only celebrate the accomplishments but also the journey that has brought us together. Our school is not just a place of learning; it is a community that thrives on shared values, mutual support, and a collective commitment to nurturing the potential within each child.

I am delighted to share the resounding success of our School Excellence and Year 6 Graduation Assembly, where we celebrated numerous achievements and milestones. On the Excellence & Year 6 Graduation page, we highlight the outstanding accomplishments of our students. The atmosphere was charged with excitement during the announcements of the School Dux, Sportsperson of the Year, Citizenship of the Year, Outstanding Community member and the unveiling of our 2024 School Captains and Vice Captains. Congratulations to all, and we look forward to witnessing your continued success in the future!

I would now like to take a moment to congratulate our Year 6 graduating students.

Your time at Windang Public School has been marked by growth, learning, and memorable experiences. As you embark on the journey to high school, always remember that you are an integral part of our school family. The bonds you've formed, the lessons you've learned, and the memories you've created will forever be etched in the tapestry of Windang Public School.

Year 6, work hard in high school, pursue your passions, and remember that the world is your oyster. The skills and values you've acquired here will undoubtedly serve as the foundation for your future success. Embrace the challenges that lie ahead, and let the knowledge that you carry from Windang Public School be a guiding light on your path to greatness.

The Footsteps Dance concert was absolutely spectacular! We had 16 incredible dance routines followed by our Christmas finale bringing the festive spirit to the stage, leaving the audience in awe of the holiday cheer. A perfect last day of school ending with a heartwarming guard of honour for our Year 6 students. Each student had the opportunity to ring the school bell, symbolizing their transition to the next chapter of their lives. The entire day was filled with joy, celebration, and bittersweet moments.

Miss Markham, Miss Kemp, Miss Rogers and Mrs Hesse will be leaving our school to pursue various adventures. I would like to extend my thanks for their commitment and dedication to their respective roles.

  • Miss Markham through merit selection has secured a permanent Assistant Principal position at Figtree Public School.
  • Miss Kemp will be moving back home to South Australia.
  • Miss Rogers will join the teaching team at Primbee Public School.
  • Mrs Hesse will join Lake Illawarra High School full-time.

I would also like to extend my deepest gratitude to the long-standing P&C members Vicki Sweet and John Wiley who have generously contributed their time and support over the years. Your commitment has made a lasting impact, and you will be sincerely missed.

I extend my heartfelt congratulations to every student, staff member, and parent who has contributed to the success of Windang Public School this year.

Together, we have not only achieved academic excellence but have also built a community where every individual is known, valued, and cared for.  As we look forward to the future, let us continue to uphold the values that define us and strive for even greater heights.

May the spirit of Windang Public School continue to shine bright in all our endeavours.

Warm regards,

Mrs Loreta Kocovska
