Kitchen Garden Updates
This term, our Preparatory students will be exploring the Kitchen Garden, where they'll learn to plant, care for, and harvest plants.
🌾 Week 1: Laying the foundation
Our young gardeners, with their little shovels and buckets, rolled up their sleeves and got their hands dirty. They diligently laid down fresh soil and prepared the ground with care. It was heartwarming to watch them embrace the experience, asking questions, and learning as they worked.
🌿 Week 2: Planting seedlings
Last week, we took another significant step in our gardening journey. Armed with an assortment of herbs, tomato seedlings, chilli plants, and lettuce, Prep B students filled the garden beds with life. Each plant was carefully nurtured and gently placed into the soil.
In the upcoming weeks, our young gardeners will learn to tend to their plants, water them, and observe the magic of growth. We look forward to watching their excitement and wonder as they witness the transformation of seeds into vibrant, flourishing plants.
Our goal is not just to grow delicious and fresh produce but also to nurture a lifelong love for gardening in these young hearts. We hope to see them develop a deeper appreciation for the environment and a sense of accomplishment as they watch their efforts bloom. Stay tuned for more updates on this green journey, as we watch the Preps cultivate not only plants but also a love for gardening that will last a lifetime.
Have something to give away that you don't think an op shop will take? Like a bunch of books, a sofa bed, or some dining room chairs? Or even some half-used bottles of bubble mix, or some perfume you opened but you hate it? Take a photo and post it Boroondara Hard Rubbish Rehome (https://www.facebook.com/groups/809680593385005)

Scarecrow Competition!
We, the Art Captains (Jess and Maia) and Miss Danaher, have organised a scarecrow competition for the Kitchen Garden. If you want to enter, here’s how.
- Step 1. Sketch/draw your design. To enter you will have to sketch a design of a scarecrow to put in the kitchen garden. Please include labels of the materials you will be using. The art can be on paper or digital. (If it's digital please print it out) Don’t forget to put your name on your sketch. Use your creativity!
- Step 2. Hand it in. Once you have finished your design, hand it in to the art captains or Miss Danaher so we can choose the winner.
- Step 3. Wait. After handing it in to the art captains, all you have to do is wait for the art captains to choose the design.
- Step 4. Come to Art Club! To hear if you are the winner, come to Art Club! We will announce the scarecrow design on the 26th of October at Art Club. We will also announce it at Assembly on the 27th of October.
