Level Low Downs

Prep

In Visual Art this term, the Prep students have been working hard to create unique artworks for the upcoming Crazy Camel fundraiser. Families will be able to get these artworks printed on a variety of items such as, calendars, bags, diaries and pillow cases. These are great gift ideas for Christmas!

All funds raised will go towards the rebuild of the school hall.

Year 1

his week the Year 1 students participated in a St. Johns Ambulance First Aid presentation. They learnt when to phone '000' and how to keep their friends and family safe. They all received a participation certificate.

Year 2

It has been a busy fortnight for the Year 2s. We were excited to participate in the Walkathon and to raise a significant amount of money. Some of us found it hard not to run because we love a good competition. In Literacy, we have been writing narratives and letters to our pen pals. We are also learning to use apostrophes. In Maths, we are focussed on division and practising fair shares (which is good news for younger brothers and sisters). St John came in for our Health Inquiry we learnt the steps to take in an emergency. We’d like to challenge you with our ‘big question’ in Health: How do we build connections with others as we change?

Year 3

The Year 3 students are beginning Literature Circles this term, in preparation for Year 4! So far, the students have chosen a novel they would like to read and have been placed into groups. They will be reading a section of the book each week and discussing it together. They will also be using ‘think boards’ to record their ideas while they read. These will be used to help guide discussion about the books. Each group has collaboratively agreed on Lit Circle ‘norms’ to help ensure the book talk is purposeful, productive, and fun!

We look forward to a great term of learning and new experiences.

Year 4

Wow! What a camp the Year 4 students have had at Arrabri Lodge. Rain, hail or shine the students participated in lots of fun activities with big smiles on their faces. From archery and orienteering to the ropes course and giant swing, there was something for everyone. A common highlight was definitely seeing Mr Watson go to the top of the giant swing. Thank you to all the parent helpers for their hard work!

Year 5

The Year 5 students have thrown themselves headfirst into Term 4! From our Biomimicry science exhibition, to launching our Podcast unit for the Year 5 students and their families to listen to at home, learning about DRSABCD, (ask your child to tell you what this means), participating in Walkathons, Reach workshops and creating sculptures from shoes in Art.

This term we are focusing on Business and Economics and Health, fractions and decimals and how to put together an interesting sentence.

We congratulate the Year 5 students who participated in the Divisional Athletics last week.

Archer 3rd in high jump, Jade 3rd in discus, Charlotte 3rd in shot put, Taylah 2nd in 100m and shot put, Poppy 4th in long jump and Polly 1st in Hurdles and 2nd in 200m .

Year 6

The Year 6 students are filled with immense excitement as they immerse themselves in their last Matilda Jr. rehearsals. Throughout this week, we've incorporated microphones, and the students have eagerly donned their costumes. At the start of the week, we were fortunate to host a presentation by St. John's Ambulance, which emphasised the significance of CPR, and the students were able to practice this life-saving technique on mannequins. We trust that everyone has secured their tickets for the upcoming musical! 😊
