2023 Victorian State Schools Spectacular

Saturday, 9th of September marked the 2023 Victorian State Schools Spectacular, a massive annual event that our school has been proudly contributing to for many years. This year's VSSS brought together over 2,000 students from government schools across the state. Song, dance, instrumentation, acrobatics, circus acts and giant puppetry were all on display at John Cain Arena over the weekend. 

This year's show – Happy Travels – followed an intrepid group of hapless tourists as they traversed the globe in a cavalcade of circus mayhem and offered best wishes to students on their journey of self-discovery. 

The score delivered music from the Pacific, Japan, Britain, Italy and Australia. Song and dance items included music by Katy Perry, John Farnham, Delta Goodrem, Calum Scott, John Mayer and Olivia Newton-John.

The students were made up of Principal Vocalists, Principal Dancers, Backing Vocalists, Victorian State Schools Choir, a 51-piece orchestra, 1100 mass dance students and 960 in the mass choir.

Our 47 students from Levels Three to Six represented GWPS proudly and enthusiastically, and crafted powerful memories together that they will carry long after their primary school years. Congratulations to all of the students for a wonderful performance and much gratitude goes out to our outstanding staff and parents for their support in the VSSS journey this year. Thank you, Nadia, Sabrina, parent volunteers - Preethi, Jaspreet and Shehana, Frank, Roland, Helen H and Anat. Your support up to and throughout the VSSS production week ensured the students' safety, enjoyment and success.
