Year 8 Form Leader Update

The Year 8 Form Leaders are a group of Year 8's made up of two students per class. Our goal is to think of ideas to improve Year 8 and the school as a whole. So far we have made a board that lists upcoming activities and information for other events happening around the school. This is located in the heart of our corridor so all students get to see this information every time they head to and from their lockers. We’re also working on writing to the College Council to improve the uniform and other ways to improve our school community. We aim to meet as a group each fortnight and follow formal meeting procedures, including one of us taking on the role of secretary each meeting. If anyone in Year 8 has a suggestion for what we should be looking into moving forward, please let your class leader know. I hope you look forward to seeing what we do next.

Noodles in Maths?

The Year 8 Maths classes have jumped into the kitchen recently to build their instructional skills. In preparation for the upcoming games carnival, where they will have to design a probability based game with instructions, students were to write the instructions of how to cook noodles for a peer. This had them focus on the importance of accurate and clear instructions when measuring, timing and completing logical tasks. Those with clear instructions enjoyed a nice, hot bowl of noodles while those with unclear instructions may have been left with some missing ingredients or a cold, crunchy snack.

Keep an eye out for the upcoming work from the upcoming games carnival.
