Athena Aligizakis - Cafeers & Pathways Advisor

This is my first newsletter and first term at Lilydale Heights. We have not met yet but I’m Ms. Aligizakis, your Career & Pathways Advisor, filling in for Ms. Jordan whilst she is on leave. I am located in the Careers Office in the Library.     My door is always open.  My role is to help you navigate the world of careers and work and help you to find a career that inspires you, that you love and that speaks to your strengths post-secondary school.   It’s ok to change your path. It’s ok if you haven’t figured it all out yet. It’s ok to have more than one career after you finish Year 12. There is a pathway for everyone.    My path was a winding one too. I’ve had around seven career changes, completed Uni once, completed six different TAFE courses and am currently completing another which relates to this role now.   I chose the subjects I liked, that I was good at and transferred similar skills into each course and job I performed.   I adopted a learning attitude, embraced change and here I am today to share my experience with you and help you to find the beginning of your own path. This is not the end of learning for you and might not be the only career path or education you pursue.

If you need assistance with your career and pathways in any way, drop into my office any time on Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday.   Parents, I welcome your call if you have any questions or concerns about your child’s career options.  I look forward to meeting you soon.
