Learning & Teaching

We held our Term 3 Parent/Teacher interviews this week. We thank all the parents who met with teachers to discuss learning, progress and achievements over term 3. We strongly recommend using Seesaw teacher posts as a point of reference for generating conversations with your child about their learning. Don’t forget to hit the like button too when you see a great post about your child’s learning.

Prep learning - This week the Prep students and Alex welcomed to school, Andrew a local paramedic and member of our learning community, for some real life learning and development of life skills. The children explored the role of a paramedic in our own lives and within the community. They participated in role play to explore the concept of care. They discussed what numbers to call, how to unlock a parent’s phone to call 000, what the emergency was and who was involved. This was a great language experience as well as real life learning.

Junior Learning - There are many Discovery projects coming to fruition this week. Students have been putting the finishing touches to their movies, construction creations and wood work projects. We anticipate that most letters have been received from parents that were posted a fortnight ago. You may notice that many children will be awaiting a reply! In Maths the juniors have been using geometric reasoning to explore directional language and translating their learning into stop motion creations and obstacle courses.

Middles Learning - The middle teachers organized a most wonderful morning with The History Box. Students were led by Barry in rich discussion, exploration of artifacts and had the most wonderful incursion. Students have written diary entries from the perspective of someone in the past. They are in the process of publishing their writing this week. Keep an eye out for some of these amazing pieces on Seesaw!

Senior Learning - Once again our sensational seniors are working on Genius hour projects. They have generated ideas, created plans, requested permission for parental and leadership support, and are well on their way to a busy and enterprising Term 4.  Thank you to all the families who joined us for the Senior poetry slam. Clearly we have a lot of budding writers in our midst. Be sure to check out Instagram and Facebook for an upcoming “Learning Post” about these creative artists.

Walk Ride Scoot to School

St Brigids will be taking part in the October Walk Ride Scoot to school challenge during October.  Anytime a student walks, rides or scoots to school during the month of October they can give themself a point on their tally sheet that will be in their classroom. At the end of the month we will see which students and classes are the overall champions.
