Term 4

Year 3/4s have had a great start to the last term of the year. We are super excited about our upcoming Radio Awareness incursion, and eagerly looking forward to warmer days. Over the last 3 weeks, we have been very busy with our learning and would like to share a snippet of it with you:

Reading - As readers, it is important for us to know the author's purpose as well as all the literary devices they use to keep the reader hooked. In order to understand this better, we explored different figurative language devices such as alliteration, personification, hyperbole, and repetition.

Writing - Our focus for the first half of Term 4 is to build persuasive writing skills. We have been very busy brainstorming, planning, and writing our first draft. Our writing has slowly started to come together, and we can’t wait to share our published pieces with everyone.

Mathematics - Worded problems in Maths can be tricky at times, which is why we have spent a lot of time, solving these. We focused specifically on Multiplication and Division word problems and used the CUBES strategy to unpack it. Along with this, we are also learning to use a broken ruler to measure objects.  This activity will not only enhance students' measurement skills but also teach them problem-solving and critical thinking. This hands-on experience will deepen their understanding of measurement concepts.

Inquiry - A new term means a new big idea. We started our term by unpacking and exploring our new big idea, 'Organisations are Formed to Meet Human Needs and Solve Problems.'

We tapped into our prior knowledge and shared our wonderings, then we moved on to researching different organisations like WHO, The Salvation Army, and RSPCA. Currently, we are looking at structure and goals and expanding our research.
