Welcome back to term 3! The student services team are looking forward to bringing you lots of exciting programs this term, here is a snapshot of what we have in store!
Northern Centre Against Sexual Assault (NCASA)
We welcome back NCASA to our school this term, students from year 9-12 will participate in Respectful Relationship workshops covering a range of important topics- sexual assault and legal system and equality in relations.
Paul Dillon Alcohol and Other Drugs Presentation –
We are also lucky to have Paul Dillon attend our school again this term to discuss issues related to drug and alcohol use.

A bit about Paul and his background:
Paul Dillon has been working in drug education for almost 30 years. Through his own business, Drug and Alcohol Research and Training Australia (DARTA) he has been contracted by many organisations to provide updates on current drug trends, as well as advice on alcohol and other drug issues. He continues to work with many school communities across the country to ensure they have access to quality information and best practice drug education.
With a broad knowledge of a range of content areas, Paul regularly provides media comment and is regarded as a key social commentator, he also writes a blog for parents and caregivers, as well as another for young people, and these have recently been released in a podcast format.
Year 10 Love Bites
Student services along with facilitators from Berry Street and the School Nursing Program will again be delivering the NAPCAN Love Bites program. This is a great opportunity for our students to learn about respectful relationships in a group setting.
The program features lots of activities and a creative session, you will see more wonderful art works as the term continues, we’ve included a few for this issues of the newsletter:
Year 7 Teen MHFA (Mental Health First Aid) course
In their Connect groups, students will learn about mental health problems, how to offer initial mental first aid support to a friend or peer who may be experiencing a mental health problem, and how to connect them with a trusted adult. Teen MHFA is based on guidelines developed by MHFA Australia and mental health professionals. The course focuses on improving the mental health literacy of all Year 7s and reducing the stigma that often prevents teens from getting the help and support they need. The course is not a therapy or support group. Topics covered include depression, anxiety, eating disorders, bullying and abuse, intoxication, non-suicidal self-injury and suicidal thoughts and behaviours. Sessions will be delivered by trained MHFA facilitators. Students will complete three MHFA sessions on:
