NAIDOC Week

NAIDOC Week Excursion

As part of our NAIDOC Week celebrations, a group of us participated in a meaningful

excursion to the Indigenous mural on St Georges Road, a powerful symbol of First Nations strength and advocacy, created and maintained by the Aboriginal Advancement League.

On Friday 25 July, the 2.5-kilometre walk provided us with the opportunity to reflect on Country, community, and culture. The mural itself is a vibrant tribute to the legacy of the Aboriginal Advancement League and their ongoing work in promoting First Nations rights and representation.

After arriving at the mural, students watched a presentation that deepened their understanding of Aboriginal history and contemporary issues. The afternoon concluded with a BBQ generously hosted by the Advancement League. A warm and welcoming moment that brought everyone together.

This excursion was a valuable way to connect our learning to the world beyond the classroom and acknowledge the importance of First Nations perspectives in our curriculum and community.
