What is the eSafety Commissioner?The eSafety Commissioner is Australia’s national independent regulator for online safety. Their role is to help protect all Australians - especially children - from online harm. They provide expert advice, education, and tools to help families navigate the digital world safely.

The eSafety website offers a wealth of resources tailored for parents and caregivers, including:

• Tips for setting up safe devices and apps 

• Advice on managing screen time

• Guides for talking to children about online safety

• Support for dealing with cyberbullying, image-based abuse, and inappropriate content

These resources are practical, easy to understand, and designed to empower parents to feel confident in supporting their children online. The eSafety Commisioner also runs regular webinars which can assist parents in learning about new concerning trends.

Reporting Online ConcernsIf your child experiences something upsetting or harmful online - such as cyberbullying, unwanted contact, or the sharing of inappropriate images-you can make a report directly to the eSafety Commissioner. Their team investigates and can take action to have harmful content removed. These reports help the government monitor and be aware of current issues children and families are experiencing online.
