Lakeside Students RISE Up
As part of our endeavours to acknowledge and highlight positive behaviour, we present RISE Awards at Flag Assembly each Monday. RISE is an acronym for Resilience, Integrity, Service and Empathy. Each teacher identifies one student who has made a concerted effort to display the attribute of the week. This might be someone who exemplifies it readily, or it might be given to someone who has worked hard to really improve themselves in that area. These are our key character traits for the Primary School which help to reinforce our school behaviour expectations.
R - Resilience
I - Integrity
S - Service
E - Empathy
Parents are welcome to attend our Flag Assemblies, held on the Primary basketball court.
It is my great pleasure to announce that the following children recently received awards:

100 days of School
This week, the Prep students celebrated their 100th Day of School, marking a major milestone in their educational journey. We are so proud of the growth and dedication they have shown throughout these first 100 days. It has been a time of exploration, discovery, and development.
We want to congratulate the Preps on not only their great achievement of 100 days, but also on their little victories that make each day special. Whether it was learning a new letter sound, solving tricky maths problems, or being brave enough to try something new. We couldn't be prouder of our Preps.
We can't wait to see what the next 100 days brings as they continue to learn, grow, and shine.

Book Week Author Visit & Writing Showcase
Primary families, we have two exciting Book Week events to share! On Thursday, August 14th, all primary classes will welcome a visiting author who will conduct engaging writing workshops with our students. This is a fantastic opportunity for our budding writers to learn from a professional and gain insights into the writing process.
Following these workshops, we warmly invite parents, friends, and caregivers to join us on Wednesday, August 20th, from 3:15 - 4:30pm for a special writing showcase. You'll have the chance to visit classrooms and see the amazing writing our students have created following their author encounter.
This "Book an Adventure" classroom tour will allow you to witness the writing process across different year levels and celebrate your writer's creative development. You'll see how our writers have been inspired by their author visit and literature throughout the year.
This event showcases the importance we place on nurturing young writers and giving them authentic audiences for their work. Please mark your calendars and join us in celebrating our students' literary achievements and creative expression!
Fundamental Motor Skills for Prep to Year 2
Next week, our Prep to Year 2 students will participate in weekly Fundamental Motor Skills sessions designed to enhance their physical development and coordination. These sessions focus on building essential movement skills that form the foundation for all future physical activities and sports participation.
Fundamental motor skills include running, jumping, throwing, catching, kicking, and balancing. Developing these skills early is crucial because they provide the building blocks for more complex movements and help children gain confidence in physical activities. Strong fundamental motor skills also support cognitive development, as physical movement helps strengthen neural pathways in the brain.
During these sessions, learners will engage in fun, age-appropriate activities that improve their coordination, balance, spatial awareness, and overall physical literacy. These skills not only support participation in sports and recreation but also contribute to everyday activities like riding bikes, playing playground games, and maintaining good posture.
Learners should wear normal school uniforms for these sessions, as the activities are designed to be accessible and comfortable in regular clothing. We're excited to support our youngest learners in developing these important foundational skills that will serve them throughout their lives!
