Celebrating Our Year 5 and 6 Learners: The IB PYP Exhibition at Highton PS
We are excited to invite our school community to one of the most significant milestones in the Primary Years Programme (PYP) – the IB PYP Exhibition. This powerful learning journey will be showcased by our Year 5 and 6 students during Week 5 – on Tuesday 19th August and Wednesday 20th August.
The PYP Exhibition is a student-led, inquiry-based project that brings together everything our learners have discovered throughout their time in the PYP. It encourages them to identify real-world issues, take meaningful action, and reflect on their learning in a collaborative and creative way.
This year, our Exhibition is driven by the transdisciplinary theme:
"Where We Are in Place and Time."This theme invites students to explore personal histories, migrations, significant global and local journeys, and the connections between individuals and civilizations over time. It encourages them to think deeply about who we are, where we've come from, and how our past shapes our present and future.
Student inquiry focuses may include:
- The impact of migration on communities and cultures
- Indigenous histories and perspectives
- How inventions or discoveries have shaped human development
- Personal or family journeys through time and place
- The evolution of human rights and global citizenship
Over the past several weeks, students have been developing their own central ideas, conducting research, and collaborating with mentors to create thoughtful presentations. The Exhibition is not only a celebration of knowledge but also a demonstration of the skills, attitudes, and learner profile attributes developed throughout their PYP years.
We warmly invite all parents, carers, and members of the school community to attend this special event. Come and celebrate the curiosity, creativity, and commitment of our Year 5 and 6 students as they share their inquiries, reflect on their learning, and inspire us all with their ideas and action.
We look forward to welcoming you on Tuesday 19th August-Year 6 and Wednesday 20th August-Year 5.
Kind Regards
