Deputy Principal
Dear Families,
Welcome to the final newsletter of the 2023 school year. We say it every year, but I cannot believe how quickly this year has flown. It literally seems like yesterday that we were setting up and welcoming the children to start the school year. And in this time…………. so much has happened.
For families managing illness, or have recently experienced a bereavement with the loss of a loved one, please know you are very much in our thoughts and prayers.
Congratulations also to families who have recently welcomed a new addition to their families with the birth of a child. We wish you every happiness and joy at this special time.
St Luke’s Wishing Tree:
Thank you for your generous support of our Wishing Tree in the foyer. The Social Justice Team is very grateful for your support and hopes that the donated gifts are one way of sharing the joy of Christmas with all in our community. We will deliver the gifts to the parish representatives from St Brendan’s.
End of Semester Reports:
Student end of semester reports have been uploaded and can be accessed through PAM. Please take time to read and share with your children all their achievements throughout the semester. I thoroughly enjoyed reading many reports and was very impressed with the fantastic learning and personal achievements of our children at St Luke’s.
Year Six Polo Tops 2024:
For those parents who have ordered a Year Six polo top for their child next year, Quality Teams will notify you as to when they will be available for collection. Tops can still be ordered, however they most likely be ready for collection until a few weeks into Term One.
Littles Anglers Fishing Kits for Grade Five students.
At the 2022 State election, the Victorian Government committed to providing Little Angler Kits to students via schools. Grade Five students at all Victorian schools, including ours, will be offered the opportunity to receive a FREE Little Angler Kit. The kits include the necessary equipment to go fishing.
This initiative aims to grow recreational fishing participation in Victoria by actively encouraging primary school aged children to learn more about marine life and the natural environment. The State Government is keen to get more children outside and active, connecting with nature and enjoying time in the great outdoors. Fishing is a great way to do that!
Thankyou and Farewell:
Finally, this being my final contribution to the newsletter, I wish to say thankyou to everyone at St Luke’s for the opportunity to be a part of a very special community over the past four years. I consider myself to be blessed in many ways to be able to work daily with the students, staff and families of St Luke’s. What a gift! I leave with many special and treasured memories of my time here. To those leaving, I wish you every success and happiness in the next part of your journey. To those joining St Luke’s in 2024, I know you will feel very welcomed as you join such a special community.
May the joy of Christmas be a special time for all families and I look forward to hearing about all the great things happening at St Luke’s in 2024 and beyond.
A message to our Grade Six Graduates of 2023.
Congratulations to you all on this special occasion – the completion of your primary school education.
Thank you for being such great leaders of our school. You have been wonderful buddies to the Foundation students – they will always remember you for this.
Thank you for all the great events you have organised for our school – fundraisers for charities, events to raise awareness about important issues and all the fun activities for everyone to join in. Your leadership of these events has been greatly appreciated.
I enjoyed going to Canberra with you all for camp. I will always remember the way you joined in discussions at the various places we visited and how you represented our school so well.
I wish you every success and happiness for your future as you start secondary education.
Mr Mac.
Library News
A big thank you to everyone for going on the search for unreturned library books. We have 54 books still outstanding. Please continue to look for any library books that may be school property during the holidays. It's never too late to return them. A BIG congratulations to Mrs Moodie's class who returned ALL their books this year.
