Dear Parents, Guardians,

“Bienvenue and Willkommen” to another great year of Language learning in 2024!!

Welcome back to those of you who have continued your language into 2024 and a special Welcome to our new Year 7 students and parents for this academic year.

We are already impressed by the way in which our students have started the year, and this bodes well for another great year!

In Languages, we are working hard towards creating a different approach towards assessments this year, in an attempt for our students to take more ownership of their learning, take on feedback more regularly and know where they are at every step of their learning.

Learning a new language or learning something new can be challenging but it’s important not to give up and remain positive and engaged in class and let your teacher know if you have any issues!

Each term our students will be working towards a final Production task each term which will mean a Speaking or Writing task but during the journey towards this, we will also show our understanding and progress through a variety of Development Tasks. These tasks will range from vocabulary tests, a grammar test or a Listening or Reading test. Each task will be weighted with the Production task carrying the most – but it’s not about whether a student earns a B or a B+ but rather they know where they are in their language learning journey!

To allow our students are set up for learning at every level – please can you ensure that:

- You have purchased the subscription to Education Perfect as per the Booklist

- Students have the necessary equipment (display folders, exercise books, dictionary). The dictionary can be left at home and used for Homework.
