Victorian High-Ability Program

VHAP sessions have already started, and Vermont Secondary College has 22 Year 8 students who have been selected to participate in the Maths and English programs during Term one.

The Victorian High-Ability Program (VHAP) is a key initiative of the Department of Education’s Student Excellence Program and aims to provide an enriching learning experience to challenge and extend our high-ability students in English or Mathematics. The programs run over the course of a term and offer students from grades 5 to Year 8 the opportunity to engage with like-minded peers whilst also aiming to support student confidence and well-being.

The Department of Education makes selections for these programs based on an analysis of a student’s NAPLAN and end of year assessment data.

We wish to congratulate our current VHAP students on their selection for this program and we look forward to supporting more of our high-ability students to take on opportunities to engage further in their education and extend themselves throughout 2024.
