Science in the ELC
In anticipation of Science Week, the ELC children were recently invited to engage in a series of exciting science activities, ably led by our Academic Dean of Science, Louise Macfarlane, along with our enthusiastic Senior School science students.
The children were captivated by the spontaneity and wonder of experiments designed around our five senses: touch, hearing, taste, smell and sight. Our three and four-year-old scientists eagerly participated in the experiments, carefully observing and describing their results.
THE EXPERIMENT
- Touch: Feel five mystery objects hidden in bags, then describe them.
- Sound: Use a stethoscope and pulse oximeter to hear and see their heartbeats.
- Sound: Tap five beakers filled with varying amounts of liquid to explore different pitches.
- Taste: Blindfolded, taste five different foods, then describe the flavours and textures.
- Sight: Use a thaumatrope to join two images.
We thank Ms Macfarlane, Ms Nolan, Ms Schiavon, Ms Valentine, Ms Lumb, Ms Chandler and our Senior School Science Leaders for inspiring our youngest scientists.
