Term 1: Wellbeing Report

Dear South Oakleigh College Community,

In the face of recent storm damage, our resilient community has shown incredible strength and solidarity. As part of our commitment to supporting students, we are pleased to bring you the latest edition of our Wellbeing Series, focusing on strategies for nurturing your child's well-being in challenging times.

Community Resilience Amidst Storm Challenges:

South Oakleigh College has weathered the storm, both metaphorically and literally. The unwavering spirit of our community has shone through, demonstrating the power of unity in overcoming adversity. Despite the challenges, we stand together in support.

At-Home Strategies for Supporting Your Child:

In the aftermath of the storm, it's crucial to create a nurturing environment at home. Encourage open communication with your child, providing a safe space for them to express their feelings. Establishing routines and maintaining a sense of normalcy can provide stability during uncertain times.

Identifying Signs Your Child May Need Extra Support:

As resilient as our community is, some students may require additional support. Keep a lookout for signs such as changes in behaviour, withdrawal, or persistent mood swings. If you notice these signs, it's essential to address them promptly.

Concerning Symptoms and Well-being Team Support:

Should you observe concerning symptoms in your child, don't hesitate to reach out to our dedicated Well-being Team. Common signs include persistent anxiety, sudden changes in academic performance, or withdrawal from social activities.

Navigating the Well-being Support Process:

Our Well-being Team is here to guide you through the support process. Upon contacting us, your child will undergo a confidential assessment, and a personalized plan will be developed. The team collaborates closely with parents to ensure a holistic approach to well-being.

How to Seek Support from the Well-being Team:

If you feel your child requires support from our Well-being Team, please don't hesitate to get in touch. You can contact your child's mentor or Year level leader directly, or for more immediate assistance, email us at 8801-dl-wellbeing@schools.vic.edu.au. We're here to support you and offering the resources and care needed for their well-being.

In the face of storm challenges, South Oakleigh College remains a beacon of resilience. Together, we can support our children through these tough times. The Well-being Series is a testament to our commitment to fostering a safe and supportive environment for every student.
