Sport 2023

Brentwood has had a fantastic year with sport and participation within the School Sport Victoria program. We always have a high level of interest from students wanting to participate and get involved with sport. It may be as a team member, a student coach or student leader.

Without the dedication of the staff at Brentwood who give up their time to coach and manage teams, we would not be able to enjoy the friendly competition the Monash Division offers.

We had a few sporting highlights over the year.

  • Brentwood has one new State Title: Intermediate Softball Team
  • The Senior Girls Table Tennis team were State Runners Up
  • and Brentwood were again the Monash Division Champions in Swimming, Athletics and Cross Country.

 Well done, Brentwood!

We are proud of the students at Brentwood and they represent us in the best way possible!

Brentwood’s team uniforms are being taken hostage!

That’s right we have numbered team tops that have been worn on sports days that have not been returned after competition. We need these uniforms back for future teams to compete.

Parents, please check in your child’s cupboards, drawers and even under their beds for the Brentwood football jumpers, soccer/hockey tops, athletics singlets, basketball tops and socks.  All tops can be returned anonymously to the main office.

PE Uniforms

Parents, please label all uniform items – it can’t be returned to your child if there is no name on it. Thank you for your cooperation.

Thank you to Mr Selimovic for being an incredible Director of Sport. His leadership and passion for sport allowed so many students to represent Brentwood.

In 2024, Ms Swilks and Miss Nash, will share the Director of Sport position.

Enjoy your break & we look forward to seeing what Brentwood can achieve in 2024.

Badminton Competition 2023

During term 4 of 2024 students at Brentwood signed up to play against one another in an in-house badminton tournament. There were three tiers of competition for this year: Beginner (having played less than 2 years), Intermediate (students who were confident about their skills but do not train at club level) and Advanced (students who have trained at club level and above, most are in the A team).

The competition had a round robin format where students would compete with one another for points. Once the students had played through the round robin, then a finals round occurred. Two teachers, Mr Lim and Mr Li, joined in on the competition and Mr Lim in particular was first in the round robin! (prizes were for students only so teachers did not participate in the finals round)

There were some close games in the finals – the beginner competition had one game that was ending at 15 points, but due to deuce in points lasted until 21-19; both sets of third place winner games and winner games of the advanced round had a 2 point difference as the final score. A congratulations to everyone that has joined in and we will see you again for next year!

Reminder - Footwear for PE Classes

Dear Parents and Guardians,

This is a friendly reminder that students should be wearing appropriate footwear to PE classes. Students should be wearing sports runners with adequate grip on the bottom of their shoes. PE classes are completed on a wide range of surfaces including, but not limited to, gym floor, asphalt and grass, also in a variety of weather conditions.

Shoes should be worn that allow students to participate safely across all terrain. PE staff make decisions on a daily basis, whether it is safe to complete classes, students need to wear shoes that are appropriate for all scenarios.

If shoes are deemed inappropriate, students may be unable to participate. Students should not be wearing street or lifestyle runners to class as these shoes do not provide adequate grip and support.

Please see below images for shoes that are appropriate for PE classes and those that are not appropriate for PE classes.

Kind regards,

Meg Wrench Joseph
