Dear Parents and Friends,
This week our students in Years 3 and 5 are completing Naplan testing. These tests can give parents an indication of how their child is performing against national proficiency standards. Our school also uses the results from these tests to assist with determining how well learning programs are working. NAPLAN is just one aspect of a school’s assessment and reporting process. It does not replace ongoing assessments made by teachers about student performance. Results of this testing will be shared with relevant parents in coming months.
It is extremely important that students are punctual to school every day. At the start of the day, teachers inform students about events and learning that will take place. Students also receive intructions related to lessons and other tasks. Students that arrive late to class also disrupt others who are focussing on important information shared by the teacher.
We will be having a Casual Clothes Day on the last day of school for Term 1 which will be Thursday 28th March 2024. Students are encouraged to bring a donation. Funds will be going to a charity called “Hands Across the Water” which is a charity based in Thailand that runs homes for local children who need care. Charlotte, Alexander and Lincoln Archibald in grades 5, 3 and 1 will be undertaking volunteer work in these homes for a short time during the month of April. Further details will be shared with students in coming weeks.
Please note that the following days next Term will be school closure days.
Thursday 25 April: Anzac Day - public holiday
Friday 26 April: School Closure
Monday 29 April: School Closure - Staff First Aid training. (Camp Australia care will be available on this day for those families that require it).
Please note that there will not be an assembly this week. Our next assembly will be Friday 22 March at 3pm in the hall. This will be hosted by our Prep class.
Please see the next page regarding details of our Easter Raffle.
If you have any concerns regarding your child's learning or wellbeing, please contact their teacher or myself. Enjoy the long weekend.
Regards
