Term 2 Week 1

Welcome back to Fitzroy High School for Term 2. I hope that we have all come back ready to make the most of what is promising to be a very positive term. It was lovely to see so many people at our senior campus for our three way conferences yesterday, lots of productive conversations were had. One of the most effective ways of ensuring a young person's success at school is having a strong relationship between carers and teachers so thank you to everyone who took time out of their day yesterday to help us to continue to build those relationships.

 I would also like to welcome our new students and families to the school. We have had a large number of students start with us this term in Year 9 and 10, so welcome to the FHS community, we hope you have had a great first week and we look forward to working with you.

Looking ahead to next week

Monday 27th - Athletics Carnival : After the great success of our combined swimming carnival in Term 1 we are once again joining forces with Collingwood College to run our Athletics day on Monday. Students are to meet at school, dressed in their house colours and then we will all walk down to the Collingwood Athletics Track for a day of running, jumping and throwing. The weather is looking good so don't forget to pack a hat and some sunscreen.

Tuesday 28th - Corrective Reading Classes Begin - Our new literacy support classes start before school on Tuesday. A big thanks to Olivia for getting all of this organised and up and running and good luck to the students involved, we know you are going to absolutely smash it.

      - Top Screens Excursion - our 9 and 10 media students are heading into ACMI to check out last year's best student films. Have a great time

     - Our VM and VPC students are being visited by a guest speaker from the Refugee Council of Australia who will be talking to them about the experience of seeking refuge in Australia.

Thursday 30th  - Careers Expo - Year 12 students are heading to the convention centre to learn all about the world of work and which jobs will be left after AI takes them all.
