CURRICULUM FOCUS

This week we are analyzing, critiquing and giving our opinion on narrative texts. We are also identifying narrative features and their structure. 


VOCABULARY

Analyse: Look at something in detail, typically in order to explain and interpret it.

 

Critique: To explain what you liked or disliked about something and provide details.

 

Narrative: A made up story .

 

Characters: Who is in the narrative.

 

Sizzling start: An exciting beginning that grabs the reader’s attention. 

 

Setting: Where the narrative takes place. 


ACTIVITIES YOU CAN DO AT HOME TO SUPPORT YOUR CHILD'S LEARNING

When reading with your child, stop and ask what the important information is. Then continue reading. When you finish reading the book you can combine all those important bits of information to help identify the main idea.
