A Word from the Principal

Love came, held safely within a gentle womb
All the truth, majesty, and creativity of a living God
Poured into a tiny heart
Making a quiet entrance in a dark and uninviting shack
Just one star shone anew as a handful of people were brought
Led by angelic voices, and open hearts
A young mother
A faith-filled father
Men of wisdom who searched for truth
And a group of humble herdsmen
They came to bow before a new life
And acknowledge that the rescuer had arrived
That the Word of God had come alive
And that the extraordinary transformation of heaven and earth
Had begun

I can’t quite believe this is the last few days of 2023! It seems to have landed so suddenly upon us as we prepare for Christmas and a summer of rest and rejuvenation. The frantic past few weeks have been one of success and preparation as we celebrate the growth of each student for 2023 and prepare them for the next stage in their journey in 2024.
As we approach the end of 2023 at Mount Carmel College, I am filled with pride for the achievements and growth we have witnessed within our school community. From the farewell of our most senior students to the welcome of our newest ones, the achievements recognised in assemblies and the growth reported on every student’s report, it has been a year to celebrate.
I was delighted to announce the outstanding accomplishments of our students across various disciplines in recent celebration gatherings. From academic achievements to artistic endeavours and athletic triumphs, our students have showcased their diverse talents and dedication. These accomplishments are a testament to their hard work and the supportive community that surrounds them. I also want to acknowledge those students who may not have been recognised in the assemblies - those who tried their best, those who asked for help, those who tried new things and those students who made mistakes. The College is richer for your efforts as well.
As we reflect on the achievements of the past year, we also turn our gaze toward the future. The new year holds promises of growth, learning, and further success. From the commencement of our new Kindergarten and Prep classrooms, increasing Community involvement as well as many other exciting initiatives across the College, there is much to look forward to. I know our newly appointed leaders are looking forward to developing a theme, activities and strategies that will enrich every facet of the College and I look forward to working with them in the new year.
This Christmas season, let us come together in celebration of the values that define us as a Catholic College. Let us remember the importance of kindness, generosity, and gratitude. Let us remember the reason for the season as we celebrate God’s greatest gift to us, His only Son. May the joy of the season fill our hearts and homes, creating lasting memories with family and friends. May we take time to be grateful for all this year has offered and to reflect on our many blessings at home, in the community and here at Mount Carmel.
I wish each and every one of you a blessed Christmas and a joyful holiday season. May the peace and love of Christmas be with you and your loved ones. I also wish all of our families a safe, restful and joyous Christmas break - with plenty of sunshine and time to just be over the break. We look forward to a busy and fulfilling year next year in 2024!
