Feast of St Francis Xavier

St Francis Xavier is the patron saint of our school and the patron saint of the Roman

Catholic Missions. He was one of the founders of the Jesuit Order. After his ordination, he spent his life preaching and teaching in India, Malaysia and Japan.

Facts about St Francis Xavier:

  • He was one of the original seven co-founders of the Society of Jesus (Jesuit Order) along with St. Ignatius of Loyola.
  • He converted thousands to Christianity and baptised many. He learnt and adapted to many local traditions and languages to spread his message.
  • St. Francis Xavier was canonized by Pope Gregory XV on March 12, 1622.

Feast Day of our school

On December 3, it is the Feast day of our school and parish, St Francis Xavier. To celebrate, we will be having a liturgy on Monday 4th December on the main playground, as part of our morning assembly. The students will also be ‘sailing with St Francis Xavier’, where their classes will be presented with a small figurine of St Francis Xavier. Each class will be given a set of task cards to complete throughout the week to learn more about his life, love of Jesus and missionary.

You are all invited to join us in this special celebration

“ I will go anywhere and do anything in order to communicate the love of Jesus to those who do not know Him or have forgotten Him’

Mass of Thanksgiving

On Friday 15th December at 9:15 am, we will be giving thanks for the year that we have had. We have been extremely fortunate to have been involved in multiple events and initiatives this year, where we have a lot to be thankful for. Most of all,  we will be giving thanks to the wonderful community at St Francis Xavier. We will also announce the student leaders for 2024, present the Serviam and Donna Craigie Performing Arts Award, and recognise other student achievements."

We will also be taking the time to farewell and thank Ms Carlo-Stella, for her dedication, service, leadership and passion shown on her journey at St Francis Xavier. As a school community, we will be blessing Ms Carlo-Stella as she begins her new adventure in 2024. This will be followed by morning tea in the Merici Hall where you will be able to personally wish her all the best.

We look forward to celebrating and recognising the successes, achievements and opportunities that we have had in 2023.

St Vincent’s De Paul - Christmas Appeal

This year we have been asked to provide gifts for children in poorer areas of NSW. The SFX community has a long and proud tradition of supporting this worthwhile appeal. Christmas is the time for giving, let’s make it a joyful time for less fortunate children.

Please purchase a toy or item that will brighten up a Christmas morning for a child. Each item needs to be wrapped and a tag placed on it stating whether the item is for a boy or a girl and the age.

Gifts are required for children 0 - 12 years of age and teenagers. All gifts need to be handed into the school office by Wednesday 13th December 2023.

Thank you for your continued support.
