SSV Eureka Year 7 Futsal
On Tuesday 14th November BHS took 3 teams (Year 7 Boys, Year 7 Girls Blue & Year 7 Girls Green) to the SSV Eureka Year 7 Futsal competition at Woodmans Hill Secondary College. Futsal is not a sanctioned SSV event but local Eureka Division put together a competition for the final event of the year.
BHS displayed its strong soccer depth to qualify all 3 teams for the Grand Finals!
The Year 7 Boys went undefeated against Mount Rowan Secondary College (2-2), Mount Clear College (4-0), Daylesford Secondary College (6-0) and the Woodmans Hill A (2-0) & B (5-0) teams.
Mount Rowan Secondary College qualified for the Grand Final as well. Mount Rowan took the early 1 goal lead but BHS answered straight back for 1-1, BHS then took the lead for a 2-1 which resulted in the overall win.
In the Year 7 Girls section it was a similar story. The only loss BHS received was against our own side!
BHS Blue – Mount Clear College (2-0), Woodmans Hill A (3-0), Woodmans Hill B (7-2), BHS Green (3-0)
BHS Green – Mount Clear College (4-0), Woodmans Hill A (2-0), Woodmans Hill B (5-1), BHS Blue (3-0)
The two BHS Year 7 Girls teams met in the Grand Final. BHS Blue had the game in control for a majority of the match winning with a 3-1 score line.
All 3 coaches were full of praise for the skills, leadership and sportsman ship all students demonstrated on the day.

SSV Eureka Year 8 Futsal
On Thursday 16th November BHS took 2 teams (Year 8 Boys, Year 8 Girls) to the SSV Eureka Year 8 Futsal competition at Woodmans Hill Secondary College. Futsal is not a sanctioned SSV event but local Eureka Division put together a competition for the final event of the year.
The depth of competition was outstanding and the BHS teams had a challenging day in both the boys and girls competition.
The Year 8 Boys found themselves in Pool A alongside Mount Clear College A (1-5), Daylesford Secondary College (7-3), Mount Rowan Secondary College (1-0). Unfortunately, the loss to Mount Clear A meant the team missed out on qualifying for the Grand Final, the team finished second in Pool A.
In the Year 8 Girls section the team played 5 other schools in a round robin competition with the top 2 sides progressing to a Grand Final. Woodmans Hill Secondary College (2-0), Beaufort Secondary College (0-0), Daylesford Secondary College (0-4), Mount Clear College (1-1), Mount Rowan Secondary College (0-2). The team ended up well short of the required wins to qualify for the final but had a fun time playing a sport most of the students weren’t familiar with.

Athletics Victoria All Schools Track & Field Championships
During the weekends of 28th-29th October & 4th-5th November the Athletics Victoria All Schools Track & Field Championships were held at Victoria’s prestige athletics venue Lakeside Stadium. Over the two weekends students competed for their home schools in all the athletic disciplines to secure a position in the Victoria Team for the Athletics Australia National All Schools Championships in early December.
The school had two students compete at the championships:
- Scott Peart (Year 11) – U/18 Boys 5000m Race Walk (2nd place, 23:13.62)
- Jace Murray (Year 11)
- U/17 Boys Javelin (2nd, 37.13m)
- U/17 Boys Discus (1st, 50.76m)
These top 2 results have secured both Scott and Jace a position in the Victorian All Schools Team if they choose to accept.
An incredible achievement by both of the students!
