Japanese Speech Contest

Ballarat and Inagawa Sister City Annual Japanese Speech Contest

On Friday 27th October, five students from Ballarat High School went to the Town Hall to compete in the annual Japanese Speech Contest, run by the local council as part of a sister school exchange competition. With twenty-two competitors from four different schools, the Ballarat High students did well to sweep the podium with Remee Simmons in third place, Muheeb Parveen in second place and Kira Barbary in first place.

The competition this year was quite close and the speeches were of an exceptionally high level from all students. We thank Johnston-sensei and Kana for all their help in getting our students’ speeches primed for the podium and especially for giving up their lunchtimes to help the students practise.

Well done to all competitors and we hope to see many new contestants next year!
