Our students and teachers have been doing such fantastic work throughout this term. Super learning and building classroom relationships have been my absolute highlight. Seeing students demonstrate care for their peers in class and the playground makes me very proud.
Thank you to families for quickly assigning some of your School Saver Bonus to the following items:
English and Maths Activities (this is the workbooks students are using daily in class)
Mathletics (1-6) and Reading Eggs (F-4).
Both of these items will be used extensively at school to ensure that your children are building solid foundations in their literacy and numeracy skills. It is expected that all students have these resources to use in the classroom. Mathletics and Reading Eggs will also be accessible at home once the fee is covered.
Both these subscriptions allow for your child to complete an initial assessment and then will set targeted activities to close learning gaps.
Reading Eggs was once a program for beginning reading; however, the school app is designed to cater to students up to the age of 12. As so many of our students are learning English as an additional language, Reading Eggs for Year 1-4 will form an important part of consolidating their learning.
Issue 2 of Book Cub is now closed. Any orders placed should arrive next week. We will have Issue 3 early next term and there is a book fair scheduled for June 9-12.
Our Year 3 and 5 students have now completed their NAPLAN testing. We do not conduct any of the marking at school. As this is a national testing program we will await the results being shared back to us and to you. This will likely happen sometime in May/June. More information will follow.
I want to congratulate and thank all our teachers for their efforts in ensuring that these tests ran smoothly.
A special well done to the students who worked diligently to make sure that they did their best throughout the testing period.
On Wednesday mornings we are fortunate to have onsite lessons in the huddle. We currently have 3 students enrolled in the program. If you are interested - please stop by and observe and collect a flyer. The lessons run from 8am.
On Tuesday, April 2nd, each class will have the chance to participate in this program as a free activity.
Over the last two weeks we have had a group of student teachers working in our Foundation classes. They are visiting us to strengthen their teaching skills and experience. As a bonus to us, the assessments that they carry out with our students will provide our class teachers with excellent data about our students' number and mathematical understandings.
Congratulations to all students who have been acknowledged this term for demonstrating our school values of respect, responsibility and resilience.
